Schools' Poster Competition - Winners

Scottish and Southern Energy and InstaGroup have been together to promote energy awareness among children and young people. As part of the campaign InstaGroup recently organised a FREE poster competition on the theme of 'Saving Energy at Home'. The competition, Sponsored by Scottish and Southern Energy was aimed at children aged 6-9.

Individual prizes of vouchers worth £250, £150 and £100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were offered. In addition the winner's school receives £1000.

This proved to be an excellent way to get children thinking about energy efficiency.

More than 700 schools became involved and approximately 20,000 entries were received. The standard of entries was extremely high and the judging panel had a difficult task to undertake.

Following the overwhelming response, the sponsor, Scottish and Southern Energy, generously extended the prize fund so that prizes could be offered in three regions; England, Scotland & Northern Ireland and Wales.

Wales

2nd - Megan Christopher(8) from Nantyffyllon Primary School

3rd - Jessica Louise Payne (8) from West Park Primary School, Porthcawl

Scotland

1st - Danielle Drummond (9) from Collydean Primary School in Glenrothes, Fife

2nd - Clara McAdam (9) from Foyers Primary School in Foyers, Inverness

3rd - Kiranjeet Seehra (8) from Anderson’s Primary School, in Forres

For the purpose of this competition, the region England includes Isle of Man and Isle of Wight
